Sharing the peace in church

I am nothing
I am a shadow, briefly darkening
the gaze of those who greet me,
grip my hand,
and before our fingers part,
before their lips cease speaking words of peace,
glance away, seeking someone real,
someone worth some warmth.

  2. Actually they are. I just get these paranoid feelings from time to time that I'm not interesting enough for anybody to want to interact with. Perhaps I'll write a semi-autobiographical novel and call it The Bell-jar.

  3. I understand what you mean. I feel it in the paranoia that no one ever just phones me up for a nice chat, or invites *me* to the pub. But only sometimes. btw - I've never read the Bell-Jar, so this is lost on me.

  4. The Bell Jar - semi-autobiographical novel by Sylvia Plath. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bell-Jar-Sylvia-Plath/dp/0571226167/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1348088544&sr=1-1
records her sense of being separated from the rest of the world as if she is a laboratory specimen under a glass bell jar.
